Bird in hand, sea otter, osprey

When visiting my cousin Joan on Long Island, oftentimes I go to my favorite birding place. It is Morton Wildlife Refuge, a birders delight! The sketch is from a photo taken while the little chickadee sat in my hand to get a peanut. It was truly being next to nature.

Garden Vistitors

Charcoal

11x14

I had a little baby bunny in my yard all spring and summer. He/she was on her own but seemed quite content. I even saw her running around playing one day. It gave me the idea for this drawing, the wishing well is in my garden.

Satari

Satari

Charcoal

11x14

Satari is a 12 year old black shepherd. I met her when I visited my friend Donna in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was volunteering for the Panhandle Animal Shelter. Satari lived there for four years. What was incredible about Satari is that she was affectionate, playful and loving even after living in the shelter all that time. This drawing is from a photo Donna took on one of their outings.

Donna wanted to adopt her but she already had a large animal family. However, she was committed to finding Satari a home. For five weeks she walked Satari in the towns of Sandpoint and Coeur d' Alene posting flyers in stores and talking to people in hopes of getting her a home. She even had a U tube video made about Satari. No takers.

Whether is was Donna's positive energy, her diligent efforts, or a higher power, out of the blue someone called to adopt Satari. Although she was sad to see her go, she is happy Satari now has a forever home.

I took a photo of Bear after she had a terrific romp in the snow. She was very content. Dogs and snow, they just go together.
