Dottie and Spike

Dottie
Dottie was my friend Slyvia's dog. She passed away about a year ago. When she gave me a photo, I said don't you have a better one, where her eyes are open. She said "this is my favorite photo of Dottie because she is smiling". So there you have it, done in charcoal.

Spike

Spike wandered into my friend Rick's shop which is located at a very busy, hectic intersection. It was a miracle that he did not get hit by a car. He was shaking and frightened. No one claimed him so Rick took him home and he is now a very happy dog.

  1. Happy New Year Sue,
Love these. Sylvia will be so happy with Dottie, you certainly captured her happy expression. I absolutely love Spike, did you do him with the sepia ink, or is it pastel. It looks great no matter what medium you used. Great work Sue.

    Hope we can skype tomorrow.

  2. Hi Joanie,

Thank you. Spike was in graphite. I think I took that photo of him at night so the lighting was not good. I used the visual journal. Skyping in the afternoon would be great if you are available.

  4. Hi Dors,

Thank you Dors, and I am looking forward to seeing more of your fine work this new year. Your interpretation of animals/wildlife is always an inspiration to me.

  5. Hi Sue.
Both are lovely drawings but I really do love Spike. Is he done in sepia? Well done Sue. All the best.
    Vic.
P.S. I have just noticed that he is done in Graphite. And the lighting has given the impression that it is Sepia.

  6. Hi Vic,

Thanks so much. I wanted to post Spike but only had time to take the picture at night as I was starting work early the next morning. I guess the evening shot gave it a nice effect. Thanks for visiting.

Thank you. It's always nice to hear a happy ending for an animal in distress.
