Annie
The Miracle Dog

charcoal pencil
8x10

I call her the Miracle Dog because she survived on the streets for at least four years that I know of.
Many times when I would see her, I would try to entice her with a biscuit but she would not let me near.
I hadn't seen her for quite some time and I thought something happened to her. I work for a delivery company and one day I pulled up to a house and there she was on the lawn. I asked the lady is that your dog? She said "no, her family threw her out of the house when her owner got sick". Well, the rest is history, I brought her home and quickly she fell in with her pack, Molly and Bear. She is such a sweet dog. Each morning when she wakes up she rolls on her back and kicks her legs. She is a study in pure joy! I named her Annie for Little Orphan Annie because " the sun will come tommorrow, so you got to hang on till tommorrow come what may".

  1. Suzy, talk about out doing ones self, this is great. O.K. new career for you. Pet portraits. I love this of Annie, and the little story you posted about her. Well done.

  2. Sue what a heart warming story from someone who has a warm heart. Annie isn't an orphan anymore just as in the story. Your portrait of her made me smile but I admit a tear fell at the same time...lovely.
    Have a Wonderful Sunday, Janice

  4. Thank you Janice. More than the drawing, I think I wanted to tell Annie's story. She is such a survivor. I'm glad you liked it. And you also, have a wonderful Sunday. Sue

  5. Hi Sue!.... Strange how "You and "I" value the "ordinary"... and take it to "heart"!

Stranger still that your "Annie" portrait composition is almost a heart in itself! Was that your intention....Sly Person??? HAHA!!

All the regular good qualities of an "el Greco" Portrait! Well done Sue!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,

  7. "Subliminal".... Serendipitous"???... Not in my book Sue! "I" believe in "miracles"... and from one good heart to another... "You" do as well! Your post "speaks to "Me" of that! HAHA!!

    Believe what "You" will!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
